Introduction:
Cape Design Engineering (CDE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of 8-koi currently has a job opening for an Electrical Engineer II is a key member of the engineering team that performs the design of lighting, power, fire alarm, communications systems for various facilities types. Expectations of performance from an applicant will include ongoing development and maintenance of professional engineering knowledge and skills, application of that knowledge and those skills in an active design engineering environment. CDE / 8-koi is a diverse Florida based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients for over 25-years now.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer designing for facilities.
- Must possess effective communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Electrical Engineer shall hold the Engineering Intern (EI) registration.
- Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, but not required.
- Other certifications such as LEED AP, LEED BD+C, or other various AEE certifications are a plus.
- Must be proficient in the use of:
- Revit and AutoCAD.
- Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word
- Easypower or SKM
- Lighting design software (Visual, AGI 32 or similar)
- Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and other Building Codes
- U.S. Citizenship or valid US Work Visa (Green Card).
- Active membership and involvement in professional practice organization.
SPECIFIC TASK / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applicant shall be able to work on multiple projects related to buildings/industrial lighting, power, fire alarm, communications systems design. Typical assignments will require:
- Collects data and gathers information or documents.
- Observes construction activities.
- Assist on developing 8-koi / CAD BIM models.
- Able to edit project’s technical specifications.
- Designs complete project(s)/system(s) with minimal guidance
- Prepares project documents.
- Conducts field work to analyze and interpret data.
- Formulates solutions to complex problems.
- Consults with vendors and reviews project shop drawings for design accuracy and contract requirements.
- Performs engineering calculations and studies for such items as power distribution system design, short circuit and coordination studies, lighting levels and coordination, etc.
The Electrical Engineer II will have some managerial responsibilities serving as project leads. This requires the candidate to be able to:
- Effectively coordinate between engineering disciplines
- Assist with the preparation of proposals for marketing
Applicant is also responsible for maintaining 8-koi / CDE Company Standards and Practices.
