Essential Functions

  • Provide engineering leadership and oversight in support of Range of the Future (RotF) telemetry projects on the Eastern Range (ER) including the evaluation of technologies and design to enhance the launch range mission
  • Collaborate with assigned project engineers to ensure telemetry designs are based on user requirements and optimize operational excellence of telemetry systems and components to exceed customer expectations where feasible
  • Implement solutions and participate in and brief Project Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings to ensure RotF telemetry needs are clearly conveyed, customer visions and objectives are being supported and milestones are completed on time
  • Lead and participate in engineering project discussions to resolve technical challenges
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation for engineering teams
  • Define and implement best practices and identify areas of opportunity
  • Collaborate with internal and government telemetry professionals to assure system designs comply with requirements
  • Provide architectural support in a team environment to communicate telemetry designs
  • Apply methods and techniques to assist in the development, implementation and documentation of impact assessments, architecture change recommendations and CONOPS change recommendations
  • Lead and oversee the design of telemetry systems
  • Support the generation of telemetry requirements consistent with a system-of-systems architecture
  • Lead and develop inputs to basis of estimates and proposals in support of assigned projects
  • Prepare documentation including briefing material and reports to communicate information to appropriate personnel including leadership and external customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in an engineering environment or related field with emphasis on telemetry systems and a strong understanding of the engineering lifecycle
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) Air Force architecture views and the development of requirements
  • Experience with telemetry ground station and ground network hardware (bit synchronizer, data decommutator, receiver, antenna, distribution hub, processor, recorder, etc.)
  • Experience with telemetry data modulation (CPFSK, SOQPSK, FQPSK, etc.) and transport protocols (Telemetry Over IP (TMoIP)) and techniques
  • Experience with the principles and application of radio frequency (RF) instrumentation
  • Experience with the principles and mitigation of electromagnetic/RF interference (EMI/RFI)
  • Experience with IP networks
  • Experience working with Telemetry systems
  • Experience managing development projects
  • Experience with hardware development, design, and implementation
  • Experience working with Windows- and Linux-based computer systems and components
  • Experience with standard electronics test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Experience working with design principles and applications
  • Experience working with Windows based computer systems and components and Office tool suite
  • Experience working with Project IPTs

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
