Job purpose

To provide assistance with supporting emergency shelter operations in Southwest Texas for 8-koi; a diverse Florida based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients for over 13-years.

Operations will provide temporary residential shelter care and other related services to migrant families, including housing, childcare, medical and mental health services, case management, legal services, recreation, religious services, and food services. The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting similar Shelter Operations.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Provides personal patient care as required; such as bathing, grooming, or dressing if required.
  • Prepares patient area for new admission including fresh linen, clean overbed table and bedside stand, and personal use items such as water carafe, masks and Kleenex.
  • Takes patients vital signs. Obtains and delivers lab specimens. Answer patient calls. Makes regular rounds to patients.
  • Cleans patient care equipment including IV pumps, IV stands, wheelchairs, microwave, K-pads, bedside commodes and refrigerator.
  • Transports patients to and from various departments for x-rays, lab work and meals.
  • Practices careful, efficient and non-wasteful use of supplies. Reinforces patient teaching regarding respiratory precautions and unit rules. Follows infection control policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training completion.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement suitability determination for holding a Public Trust position.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain pre-employment medical clearance.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure required.
  • Ability to multitask in fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and staff management skills.
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently, and have a sharp attention to detail

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bi-lingual fluency in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Prior Shelter experience working with Migrant families and/or children.

 

Working conditions

 

  • Work to be done on site at often isolated, rural conditions, under expeditionary/Field medical facilities conditions.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including consecutive nights and weekends when necessary; shift work required.
  • Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and pressure.
  • Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment.

 

Physical requirements

 

Normal office environment mobility; sitting, walking, bending, stooping, standing, lifting a maximum of 25 pounds (greater than 25 pounds requires a two-person lift), turning, pushing. Normal office dexterity, to include; reaching, handling, grasping, to include typing/keyboard, and phone use.
