Job purpose

To provide assistance with supporting emergency shelter operations in Southwest Texas for 8-koi; a diverse Florida based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients for over 13-years.

Operations will provide temporary residential shelter care and other related services to migrant families, including housing, childcare, medical and mental health services, case management, legal services, recreation, religious services, and food services. The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting similar Shelter Operations.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Assists with the managing of daily medical operations and prioritizing tasks.
  • Monitors vital signs and communicates the information to Medical Provider.
  • Assists with stabilization of patient and coordination of transfer for higher level of acuity as needed.
  • Assists Medical Providers in planning, implementing and evaluating patients by assessment and interventions.
  • Performs initial clinic sick visit assessment (may consult medical provider as needed).
  • Collaborates with Medical Provider to devise individualized care plans.
  • Medication administration and immunization administration in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Provides emergency medical and first aid care under supervision of medical providers.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient health care.
  • Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Performs pharmacy inventory each shift.

 

Qualifications

 

  • State Registered Nurse (RN) License, required; Bachelor’s in nursing (BRN) preferred
  • Two years of clinical experience.
  • Active BLS/CPR certification
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with extreme discretion, demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement suitability determination for holding a Public Trust position.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain pre-employment medical clearance.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure required.
  • Ability to multitask in fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and staff management skills.
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently, and have a sharp attention to detail

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bi-lingual fluency in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Prior Shelter experience working with Migrant families and/or children.

Working conditions

  • Work to be conducted likely conducted at isolated, rural locations under "expeditionary"/Field medical facilities conditions.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including consecutive nights and weekends when necessary; shift work required.
  • Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and pressure.
  • Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment.

Physical requirements

 

Normal office environment mobility; sitting, walking, bending, stooping, standing, lifting a maximum of 25 pounds (greater than 25 pounds requires a two-person lift), turning, pushing. Normal office dexterity, to include; reaching, handling, grasping, to include typing/keyboard, and phone use.
