To provide assistance with Behavioral Health Management support services for 8-koi; a diverse Florida based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients for over 25-years now.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide Behavioral Health Management (BHM) support services to the Tennessee Army National Guard. Performs initial and follow-up Soldier interviews, provides recommendations for care, and reviews submitted documentation to ensure quality of care and status of deployability. Contract employees are expected to coordinate with case management, engage leadership and the Deputy State Surgeon’s Office by providing ongoing and consistent patient recommendations and medical administrative services.
  • Behavioral Health Management requires the expertise to facilitate, through review of documentation, military regulations and other authorized data the rendering of advice. The medical documentation of individual Soldiers will be utilized in the production of Narrative Summaries (NARSUMs), profiling, referrals, reports, investigations, medical board packets, and waiver requests. Contract employees are responsible to draft narrative summaries, review medical information, advise personnel on duty restrictions, recommend profiling restrictions, waiver recommendations, and advise the Deputy State Surgeon (DSS) on deployment ability.
  • The Behavioral Health Management must work with Case Management to collect medical documentation, input administrative notes into various systems, and assist with administrative duties required in the processing of information. The BHM shall assist on scheduled Medical Readiness events as needed on weekends as necessary. `
  • Provide Behavioral Health Management support services from initial to follow-up Soldier interviews, review of documentation and SSO guidance. Behavioral Health Management services include recommendations for care, profiling, medical waiver requests, training, and medical board determinations.
  • BHM Coordinates with service members (SM) that have behavioral health concerns. Performs initial and follow-up SM interviews to ensure quality of patient care. Provide information to patients about their privacy rights and how provided information will be used. BHM works with Care Coordinators in order to request documentation, update MEDCHART, and process administrative tasks. Maintains a case management reporting system to include database spreadsheets. Uses various software programs to track and update the status of behavioral health patients. Monitors all Medical Operational Data System (MODS) and Medical Electronic Data (for) Care History and Readiness Tracking (MEDCHART) applications for compliance with behavioral health medical readiness.
  • Assures individual mobilization requirement guidelines are distributed and fully implemented for individuals in mobilizing units. Assists the commander with the development of courses of action to correct and/or improve individual medical readiness deficiencies on mobilizing personnel.
  • Responsible for tracking behavioral health status of ALL assigned Soldiers.
  • Responsible for input medical charting in MEDCHART. BHM will also utilize the Behavioral Health Reporting tool (BHRT). The contractor may merge responsibilities found in other positions to reduce duplication of the same duties (provide information in your proposal that indicates who will be responsible)
  • Request medical documentation from Soldier, Medical Treatment Facility, Medical Providers, and other resources associated with SM medical care.
  • Track Soldier treatment plans with appropriate medical facilities.
  • Maintain automated referrals indicated in MEDCHART.
  • Submit case processing, medical documentation, and profile concerns to military/contacted provider.
  • Attend Medical Readiness Event (MRE) as determined by the needs for the state and the individual units.
  • Ensure those Soldiers under managed care from identification of BH condition to when the Soldier is either:
  • Considered medically ready
  • Administratively separated from the military.
  • Follow the regulations and policies applicable to Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) and deployment
  • Ensure all medical documentation received from the Soldier, unit, or medical provider is placed in appropriate electronic record, as well as the Soldiers Treatment Record (STR).
  • Maintain STRs in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 40-66.
  • Obtain release of information for Soldier.
  • Educate Soldiers on resources available to improve BH readiness.
  • Maintain Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) standards and guidelines
  • Review and track health assessment (MRE) BH consults, contact SM and educate on lifestyle modifications.
  • Forward BH medical documents of Soldiers to MMT for processing.
  • Contractor shall ensure that all administrative charting in MEDCHART is completed.
  • Track BH appointments by communication with unit to ensure Soldier attendance and submission of follow up documentation. Chart appointment attendance and relay information to the appropriate offices upon request.
  • Log into MEDCHART any significant contact with SM (email, voice mail, or personal interview).
  • Run MEDPROS report post MRE. Supply copy to HSS, MMT, and MRNCO assigned to unit. Monitor MEDPROS to ensure all scheduled services are completed/updated and current medical status is reflected.
  • Communicate with delegated government personnel to track compliance versus noncompliance.
  • Report medical readiness to the Case Manager, MRNCO, commander or designated representative.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain US Government Security Clearance
  • Shall possess a Bachelor’s Degree, but nursing license is preferred for Case managers that draft narrative summaries, review medical information, advise personnel on duty restrictions, recommend profiling restrictions, provide waiver recommendations, and advise the Deputy State Surgeon (DSS) on deployment ability.
  • Possess a minimum of one-year experience working in Case Management
  • Familiar with the Microsoft office suite, office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, personal computer, and telephones
  • Excellent written, oral, and telephone communication skills
  • Ability to operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems and personal computers
  • Must have excellent communication, phone etiquette, customer service and people skills, as well as be able to multitask and stay organized
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently, and have a sharp attention to detail

Working conditions

Working conditions are within a normal office environment.

Physical requirements

Normal office environment mobility; sitting, walking, bending, stooping, standing, lifting a maximum of 25 pounds (greater than 25 pounds requires a two-person lift), turning, pushing. Normal office dexterity, to include; reaching, handling, grasping, to include typing/keyboard, and phone use.
