Description

Job purpose

To provide administrative/clerical temporary support (approximately 3 weeks) for the Eye Clinic of the Walter Reed National Medical Center (8901 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD) Contract for 8-koi; a diverse Florida based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients for over 25-years now. The contractor shall provide administrative support services to the Directorate of Healthcare Operations for the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Serve as our Front Desk Personnel in the Eye Clinic and for the mission essential-Warfighter Refractive Surgery Program (WRSP) For this the position, the contractor shall perform the functions as followed:
  • Provide administrative support to Ophthalmologist, Optometrist, and technicians performing laser vision surgery.
  • Assist with the coordination and schedules approximately 2500 surgical procedures annually, with constant telephone contact for scheduling.
  • Answer telephone inquiries, determining request, and directing callers to appropriate staff or personally providing the information.
  • Maintain workload profiles; maintain medical records, and other patient documentation.
  • Filing, maintaining, and preparing patient medical charts.
  • Assist with the logistics tenant commands throughout the region.
  • The direct liaison to the United States Naval Academy for coordination of pre-operative and post-operative appointments for over 500 graduating Midshipman per year in the Warfighter Refractive Surgery Readiness.
  1. Assist for the intake and processing of the completed surgical preoperative package on the day of surgery. This is essential for the smooth transition of over 30 patients from the staging area in waiting room to the surgical arena.
  2. Ensures 100% chart verification prior to hand-off to the Laser Vision Center technician.
  3. Expertly provides and explains the WRSP policies to telephone inquiries and walk-in patients
  • Assist with the Laser Vision Consult for the National Capital Region determines applicability and suitability for screening for Photo Refractive Keratectomy, and LASIK for surgical applicability and suitability for screening.
  • Maintain medical records and other patient documentation.
  • Entered patient physic messages into AHLTA(T-CONS)
  • Verify that all providers, diagnostics, procedures, and disposition codes are complete by the end of each business day.
  • Copy documents and forms.

Qualifications

Minimum Associate Degree in Healthcare Administration or higher and 5 years’ experience in customer service, appointment scheduling and managing records.

  • Must be able to obtain US Government Security Clearance
  • The contractor shall have proficient skills with the use of Microsoft applications. Highly efficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • The contractor must have good communication skills both oral and in writing.
  • Must have a good command of the English Language.
  • Must have good working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must have current Basic Life Support Automated External Defibrillator (BLS/AED) resuscitative medicine training certificate. Resuscitative medicine training provided by the Joint Medical Training Facility (MTF) or Center.
  • Knowledgeable of military structure and COC (chain of command) to render best results for service members.
  • Must be able to utilize modern office automation systems (hardware and software) in the performance of assigned duties. Familiar with the automated programs, systems or reports such as CHCS, AHLTA, and Veterans Tracking Application (VTA) Electronic Medical Evaluation Board (eMEB)
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills to include rapid and acute typing skills.
  • Excellent professional demeanor and customer service.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks on time and to appropriate completion.
  • Must have current Basic Life Support Automated External Defibrillator (BLS/AED) resuscitative medicine training certificate. Resuscitative medicine training provided by the Joint Medical Training Facility (MTF) or Center.

Working conditions

Working conditions are within a normal office environment.

Physical requirements

Normal office environment mobility; sitting, walking, bending, stooping, standing, lifting a maximum of 25 pounds (greater than 25 pounds requires a two-person lift), turning, pushing. Normal office dexterity, to include; reaching, handling, grasping, to include typing/keyboard, and phone use.
