Job purpose

To provide assistance with meeting the Secretary of Defense’s (SECDEF’s) mandate to grow the SEAL enlisted force, Naval Special Warfare Basic Training Command has an ongoing requirement to supplement SEAL Instructor and support services. 8-koi is a diverse Florida based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients for over 12-years now.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide timing chip training to each NSWO class and ensure each student is briefed on timing chip custody procedures.
  • Prepare instructors to accomplish 100% accurate time capture and score recording by planning, conducting, and evaluating training.
  • Assist with the development of curriculum and training materials that effectively and efficiently enhance time capture training and recording.
  • All instructors shall be required to drive Government vehicles as part of their duties.
  • Administer physical and mental development training of students by providing instruction in the areas of diving, weapons, demolitions, and small unit tactics.
    • Lead physical training evolutions to develop discipline and endurance.
    • Lead physical training evolutions lasting up to one hour.
    • Lead physical training sessions of up to one hour consisting of upper and lower body calisthenics.
    • Provide guidance to the Government in the student remediation processes to rehabilitate performance deficiencies in the areas of running, swimming, and the obstacle course, or other areas as necessary.
  • Curriculum Development:
    • The Instructors shall assist the Government in development of curriculum and training materials related to the scope of training topics.
    • In conjunction with BTC’s Phase leadership, Instructors shall accomplish Instructor and curriculum development objectives; these objectives include reviewing and creating evolution guidelines, preparing and conducting operational risk management, evaluating classroom instruction, and reviewing instructor training records.
    • Instructors shall assist with the design of new courses or update existing courses which develop basic physical proficiency in core skills.
    • All instructors shall have the ability to recognize and address student-learning problems, communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and plan and organize work.
    • All Instructors shall possess proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Training Safety Duties:
    • Instructors shall adhere to evolution guidelines in the conduct of various training evolutions.
  • Training Phase Administrative Functions:
    • Instructors shall perform administrative functions of the assigned phase. This includes but is not limited to:
      • Access Personal Identification Information (PII) and potentially Personal Health Information (PHI) subject to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPPA) requirements and safeguard it accordingly. While NSWBTC staff will provide information regarding PII/PHI practices, the Contractor shall be responsible for training its employees on privacy act and HIPPA requirements as well as protecting such information. See paragraph 13.
      • Track student performance as they progress through the SEAL training pipeline.
      • Record the statistical progression of students in the appropriate database.
      • Coordinate with the Student Management Office for the compilation of data into the Naval Special Warfare Center’s Student Management Systems (SMS) in order to identify trends to improve the training pipeline.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain US Government Secret Security Clearance
  • Instructors shall have, at minimum, eight (8) years of NSW SEAL Operator experience
  • Experience for qualifications must be in the last 20 years
  • Shall possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license
  • Confirmation of valid and current Certifications and Licensing of Instructors: Documentation providing proof of valid and current licensing/certification
  • Shall possess proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook).
  • All high-risk training instructors shall be CPR, Automated external defibrillator (AED) and First Aid qualified prior to assuming duties. First aid, CPR, and AED certifications must be current and valid from an accredited source, such as the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The Instructors shall maintain a high degree of personal physical fitness, and be able to maintain an exemplary degree of physical fitness. Instructors and EMTs shall lead by example in this area. The Instructors and EMTs shall meet Height and Weight requirements set forth in OPNAVINST 6110.1H (Physical Readiness Program) and possess the ability to demonstrate and explain all points of performance for exercises included in the Physical Screening Test (PST).

 

All Instructors shall pass the Government administered PST at the standard level given below within 30 days of assignment to contract. Failure to do so may be grounds for instructor dismissal. The standards are:
