Description

Job purpose

 

To provide assistance with Hardware Engineering on a contract at Patrick Space Force Base for 8-koi; a diverse Florida based service and consulting company that has been providing outstanding results for our clients for over 14-years.

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Collaborate with internal project team and vendors to design and implement a new network environment to support system virtualization, DMZ (demilitarized zone) and other supporting network functions for the space launch ranges
  • Assist in developing processes and procedures for administering and supporting the new network environment
  • Build, configure and maintain network environment including routers, switches, physical firewalls, virtual firewalls, load balancers, network security devices and other network equipment
  • Observe subcontractors and vendors performing installations and configurations
  • Collaborate with system engineers to transition existing systems into the virtualization environment and ensure network functionality
  • Provide hands on support for network environment
  • Coordinate the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects
  • Apply advanced methods, theories and research techniques and assist in the development, implementation and documentation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with business practices
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, or related STEM field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with IP networking, administration of Cisco routing, switching, load balancing, environments and in the administration of firewalls and load balancing environments
  • Experience in complex IT environments which incorporate traditional and non-traditional IT services
  • Experience supporting 24x7x365 mission critical IT infrastructure
  • Experience in transitioning organizations from standalone to virtualized environments
  • Experience with system security and best practices
  • Experience provisioning and operating Security networking equipment, including IDS/IPS, Antivirus, WAF (web application firewall), AAA (authentication authorization accounting), Firewall, Security Gateway, VPN (virtual private network), and SIEM architectures
  • Knowledge of VMware network administration concepts, practices and procedures
  • Experience administering network environments in a 24x7x365 mission critical environment
  • Familiarity with securing server environments in a regulated industry
  • Preferential experience includes:
  • Applicable Certifications:
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
    • VMware Certified Professional - Network Virtualization (VCP-NV 2020)
    • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA)
  • Experience with supporting enterprise datacenter hardware and software including:
    • Dell VXRail platform
    • VMware NSX
    • Cisco: Nexus platform, Catalyst platform, Cisco Data Center Network Manager, Secure Network Server, Identity Services Engine
    • F5 load balancers
    • Palo Alto: physical and virtual firewalls, IDS, WildFire
  • Experience in complex, multivendor networking environments
  • Experience designing and implementing security infrastructure in highly secure environments
  • Experience designing cyber solutions in virtualized environments
  • Experience with DoD Federal Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs and RMF/DIACAP frameworks
  • Applicable certification(s) including:
    • Network+
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    • Microsoft Certified System Associate/Expert (MCSA/MCSE)
    • Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA)
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • System and network device scripting
    • Automated device configuration tools
    • DoD NOTAM and STIG compliance
    • Database Server security
    • Windows and Linux security
    • Host based firewalls
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel on occasion (less than 10%)
  • Security+ certification or other DoD 8570 Certification or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of start date
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
  • This position is not eligible for telecommuting on a full-time basis
  • This position is assigned to Patrick SFB or Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, with the capability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate, partner, and collaborate with team members
  • Aptitude to pick up new concepts and technology rapidly and the ability to explain it to all stakeholders
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills for design and testing of systems

 

Working conditions

 

Working conditions are within a normal office environment.

 

Physical requirements

 

Normal office environment mobility; sitting, walking, bending, stooping, standing, lifting a maximum of 25 pounds (greater than 25 pounds requires a two-person lift), turning, pushing. Normal office dexterity, to include; reaching, handling, grasping, to include typing/keyboard, and phone use.
